I think I need to print this post out and just hand it over to anyone who asks me why I don't drink. I have been at many parties with free-flowing alcohol and I'm always asked to drink, and asked why I don't. My friends think I'm weird because I admit that there's nothing inherently wrong with drinking, but I don't drink. It's just that if it's possible for alcohol to get in the way between me and God, then why take that first step in that direction? It's not worth it to me. It's also a whole lot easier to say "I don't drink. Period." than to say "I only drink on special occasions and this occasion is not special enough." Thanks for such a well-written post!
