Proverbs 3:31 (NKJV) Do not envy the oppressor, And choose none of his ways;

Life seems unfair when people who are mean, dishonest, greedy or manipulative seem to get all the breaks and enjoy things we can only dream of. We see arrogant, self-absorbed people waste their blessings and take for granted abundance that never comes our way.

We should never envy them. We should never give in to the temptation to choose the same path just so we can get ahead. It’s the expected part of a sin-cursed humanity that evil, godless and less then honorable people appear to get ahead and have it all. But it’s all an illusion that will either end in this life, or the next. Don’t be tempted by it, bothered by it, or jealous of it.

As well, don’t be envious of those who seem to enjoy a more blessed life who actually ARE good, honest and loving folks. Be happy for them. Applaud their blessings. You can never be truly content or ready for more blessings from God if you are envious of those who have more, whether evil or upright.

Think It Over: We live in a country where wealth envy, discontent and jealousy is relentlessly used to make people angry and covetous either to get them to buy something, or vote for someone who will – by force – take something from one person and give it another.  Don’t be part of this evil. Be content. Choose righteousness.
