John 11:25 (NKJV) Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.

In the movie “Braveheart”, William Wallace says “Every man dies. Not every man really lives.”  Sounds good but it’s not Biblical. First, not every man dies (Enoch, Elijah, those who are alive when Jesus returns). Second, every man (person) does “live” … forever. Just depends on where.

Jesus reminds us that for those who place their faith* in Him, even if they die (symbolically through a life of suffering/sacrifice, or literal physical death), they will live forever.  In the spirit of what Wallace says, the only people who REALLY live, are those who live for Christ.

*Faith? Think of it like this. I can believe that a parachute exists. I can believe what it was made for and has the potential to be used for. FAITH is when I add trust to my belief, put on the parachute and jump out of plane. It is only then that I’ve truly put my “faith” in the parachute. In the same we can can believe who Jesus is… we can believe in His message that He can save us.  But we only have faith in Jesus when we add trust to the belief and put our eternal destiny in His hands.

Holy Grail? Fountain of Youth? It’s not an object, it’s a Person… Jesus Christ. Want to live forever? Die today. Die to Self, die to sin, die to pride, die to any effort to save yourself. Though you may “die”, you shall “live”.

Think It Over: Have you ever considered how opposite everything is when you compare the world’s ways versus God’s way? Want to live? Die. Want to be first? Go to the end of the line. Want to prosper? Be a giver. Want to be lifted up? Bow down.
