Ephesians 4:1 (NKJV) I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called,

Humility: a modest and realistic opinion of one’s true status… not the ego-centric, me-focused, self-esteem nonsense that is so common today. It’s recognizing 1) your true nature and 2) where that leaves you compared to a Holy God.

Gentleness: not the emasculation of males or politically correct “non-judgmentalism” but rather an authentic compassion and empathy for others, and the caring touch of a servant’s heart.

Patience: remember patience? It’s been replaced with impulsiveness, instant gratification and lack of self-control.  Patience… waiting… for the right time, in the right way, for the right thing.

Love: love can be defined today as various combinations of sex, emotions and your current state of happiness (circumstances). True love is based in choice, sacrifice, commitment and obedience to God.

Think It Over: To walk worthy of your salvation, these four characteristics are foundational. How do you measure up?
