Psalm 62:1–12 (NKJV)  1 Truly my soul silently waits for God; From Him comes my salvation.   2 He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be greatly moved.

3 How long will you attack a man? You shall be slain, all of you, Like a leaning wall and a tottering fence.   4 They only consult to cast him down from his high position; They delight in lies; They bless with their mouth, But they curse inwardly. Selah

5 My soul, wait silently for God alone, For my expectation is from Him.   6 He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved.   7 In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength, And my refuge, is in God.   8 Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah

9 Surely men of low degree are a vapor, Men of high degree are a lie; If they are weighed on the scales, They are altogether lighter than vapor.   10 Do not trust in oppression, Nor vainly hope in robbery; If riches increase, Do not set your heart on them.   11 God has spoken once, Twice I have heard this: That power belongs to God.   12 Also to You, O Lord, belongs mercy; For You render to each one according to his work.

Aging is an issue we all face, for every day takes us closer to the last day of our lives. Will God be faithful to us in the end of life as He was in the early part of life? More importantly, will we be faithful to Him?

David’s program for trusting God as we age.

Wait Silently Before God Each Day

“wait silently.” It’s the same Hebrew term as in Leviticus 10:3

All this depends on how much you trust the character of God (v. 5b).

When things are rapidly changing around you, you need to cling to something that doesn’t change.

• The issues of age can be a great deterrent to faith, but faith can be a great deterrent to the issues of age.

Don’t Be Shaken in Your Faith

• Confidence is always the antidote to the jitters.

• When you’re shaken in your faith, confidence in God is the answer.

Trust Him at All Times & Pour Out Your Heart to Him

Some of the issues we face in aging are different and more difficult than the issues we faced when we were younger.

Christians possess advantage of which unbelievers seem to be ignorant. When visited by calamity they have an unfailing Refuge in God.

Our Need of the Divine Refuge.

The Nature of This Refuge—the Kind of Refuge God Is

To Enjoy This Refuge We Must Flee to It.

Don’t Let Money Ruin Your Old Age

Most people think it’s the lack of money that ruins their golden years, but David said, “If riches increase, do not set your heart on them”

Keep Working for Heavenly Rewards

Work doesn’t stop at retirement.

• There are still things I can do, and there is still work for me to do.

God can be trusted when we’re eighty or ninety just as much as when we’re eight or nine or eighteen or nineteen
